1. History
Gazi University was founded in 1926 under the instruction of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as the "Secondary Teacher Training Institute." In 1929, it was renamed "Gazi Secondary Teacher Training Institute," later "Gazi Teacher Training Institute" in 1976, and finally, in 1982, it gained its current name as "Gazi University."
2. Ranking
Gazi University is ranked among the world’s top 1000 universities. In particular, it is recognized as the top Faculty of Education in Turkey. According to international rankings, it is placed between 901-950 in the QS World University Rankings and between 801-1000 in the THE (Times Higher Education) 2024 rankings.
3. About the University
Gazi University is located in Ankara, with its main campus in Beşevler and additional campuses in Emek, Maltepe, Ostim, Gölbaşı, and Kahramankazan. As a research university, Gazi is particularly well-known for its leading faculties in Medicine and Dentistry in Turkey. The university also offers programs in sciences, engineering, architecture, technology, sports sciences, and applied sciences across 10 faculties, 1 higher school, 3 vocational schools, and 5 institutes. Some engineering programs — such as Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical & Electronics, and Industrial Engineering — are taught in English.

4. Tips for Applicants
Gazi University is one of Turkey's most historic institutions and does not collaborate with any intermediary agencies; all communication is done directly with students. Turkish bureaucracy can be quite challenging, and at Gazi University, it is particularly strict. Therefore, carefully prepare all required documents. Since the campuses are located in different parts of Ankara, pay attention to where your faculty is based. The university has a strong nationalistic student and academic body. Unfortunately, there are no university dormitories, so upon acceptance, securing accommodation should be a priority. The Gölbaşı campus is approximately 20 km from the city center.

1) TR-YÖS: Minimum 400 points (minimum 300 points for associate degrees and talent-based faculties).

6. 2025-2026 Tuition Fees
The new fees for 2025-2026 are not officially announced yet. The current annual tuition fees are as follows.
Note: Graduates from Baku Diyanet High School, Baku Turkish Anatolian High School, and Baku Atatürk High School are exempt from paying tuition fees. A 25% discount applies if a second family member enrolls.
