1. History
AYBU (Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University) was established on July 14, 2010, and was published in the Official Gazette on July 21, 2010, through Law No. 6005. It is a public university located in Ankara.
2. Ranking
Since the university is newly established, it still lags behind in global rankings. However, it has become one of the most invested educational institutions in Turkey in recent years. In international rankings, it is listed in the 1001-1500 range in the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) rankings
3. About
AYBU offers services in Ankara with 15 faculties, 1 vocational school, 1 conservatory, 4 vocational high schools, and 5 institutes. The university has more than 280 departments, with over 27,000 students, including 2,485 international students from 109 countries. There are programs with 100% and 30% foreign language instruction. Although AYBU is a new university, it has significant opportunities, especially in the medical field. They utilize Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, one of Turkey’s largest hospitals.
4. Advice for Applicants
The university has campuses in different locations in Ankara. For departments with 100% foreign language instruction, a related foreign language exam is required. For faculties with 30% foreign language instruction, both a foreign language exam and the Turkish TOMER exam are required. AYBU does not accept the TOMER exam from other universities. Therefore, after receiving your acceptance, make sure to visit the university's website for detailed information. Another challenge is the dormitory issue. The Şereflikoçhisar and Esenboğa campuses are far from the city center and are in areas with limited housing. Although the dormitory construction at the Esenboğa campus is completed, it may still be insufficient. Therefore, after acceptance, it is crucial to arrange your accommodation as soon as possible. The university requires mandatory government insurance for residency, so do not purchase private insurance.

TR-YÖS – Applicants must score at least 350 in the TR-YÖS exam.

SAT I – Applicants must score at least 1120, and for Medicine, Dentistry, and Engineering, an additional score of at least 600 in Math is required.

8. Language Preparatory Programs for the 2025–2026 Academic Year
English Language Requirements: Students admitted to programs taught fully or 30% in English are required to submit an official English language proficiency certificate.
Applicants who have sufficient English knowledge but lack a certificate must take the English proficiency exam organized by the university’s Vocational School of Foreign Languages.
Students must contact the relevant academic unit for exam dates and further information.
Candidates who fail the exam will be placed in a one-year English preparatory program.
For those presenting international exam results obtained in Türkiye, only scores from exams conducted at public universities will be accepted.
To begin directly from the 1st year, candidates must meet the minimum required score.

Turkish Language Requirements
For faculties where education is conducted entirely or partially in Turkish, students who have studied within the last 2 years and obtained a C1 level Turkish language certificate from AYBU Dilmer, Yunus Emre Institute, or other centers recognized by YÖK, are eligible to start directly from the 1st year.
For programs taught entirely in a foreign language, Turkish language certificates are not required during admission; however, students must submit a B1-level Turkish certificate before graduation.
In addition, students admitted to the English-medium Faculty of Medicine must submit a C1-level Turkish language certificate by the fourth year.

Arabic Language
Applicants to programs taught entirely or partially in Arabic will be required to take an Arabic exemption exam upon admission.
